A Golf Holiday in Kitzbühel
Kitzbühel is the golf centre of the Alps: four golf courses within a few minutes' drive, 54 holes between the Wilder Kaiser and the Hahnenkamm, another 27 holes at Golfwelt Wilder Kaiser in Ellmau, and a radius that puts twenty more courses within an hour. What sets a golf holiday in Kitzbühel apart from every other golf destination in Tyrol, however, only begins after the final putt: the art of après-golf.
The tee shot is one half of the day. The other is the moment afterwards – the terrace above the Schwarzsee, a glass of Grüner Veltliner in the evening sun, the plunge into the pool, the scent drifting from the cigar lounge. That is where this guide picks up: with everything that happens between the round and bedtime.
Kitzbühel's reputation as the golf centre of the Alps, and as a golfing paradise in the heart of the Alps, rests on something simple: four courses lie so close together that the drive rarely takes longer than the walk from the car park to the first tee. Two of them are practically in the town centre. And less than ten minutes from the Kitzbühel Residences, Golfwelt Wilder Kaiser adds the largest facility in the neighbourhood.

The championship course on your doorstep
The 18-hole championship course, par 72 over roughly 6,100 metres, lies directly beside the Kitzbühel Residences. The opening nine run flat across the valley floor; from the 10th the terrain turns to rolling hills. Thirty-two bunkers, twelve water hazards and generous fairways that invite the driver: a course that tests every handicap class without punishing it.
The finish at the 18th, with the river Ache guarding the green, has decided more than one tournament.
In May 2026 the Austrian Alpine Open brought the DP World Tour to Kitzbühel for the first time – 32,000 spectators, victory for Japan's Kota Kaneko, and a course upgraded for the occasion with six new tee boxes and five new bunker complexes. Play here today and you play a tour layout.
Afterwards: the course restaurant with its wide terrace overlooking the Schwarzsee. Alpine cooking, contemporary accents, and the shortest way home in the region.
That tournament week moved us too. Sepp Straka was our guest at the Kitzbühel Country Club and the Kitzbühel Residences – four-time PGA Tour winner, two-time Ryder Cup champion and the first Austrian to reach the world's top ten. We came to know him as a world-class sportsman and, just as much, as a wonderful person. Thank you for your trust, dear Sepp.
Our congratulations go to every player in the field, our thanks to Kitzbühel Tourismus and the Province of Tyrol for the organisation. That week showed once again what this golf destination is capable of.

The 18-hole championship course in Kitzbühel-Aurach bears the signature of architect Kyle Phillips: par 71 over 6,092 metres, steep rock faces, natural streams, dense deciduous woodland and long pars that demand precise distance control. Eichenheim belongs to The Leading Golf Courses and is considered the most demanding of the Kitzbühel courses.
The practice facilities match the course: a driving range with TrackMan, a golf academy, chipping and bunker areas. Guests of the Kitzbühel Residences receive a discount here, and likewise at the Golf Sport Academy.
Afterwards: Gasthaus Eichenheim with its sun terrace above the greens, and Weinbar Leopold, whose list reaches far beyond Tyrol.

The town's oldest course, founded in 1955, lies in the grounds of Schloss Kaps: mature trees, plenty of water, a layout that feels more like an English country estate than a mountain course. The World Golf Awards named it Austria's Best Golf Course in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Nine holes, a handicap limit of 36, the first tee and the ninth green right beside the club terrace.
Afterwards: DAS Kaps, the club restaurant with its lakeside terrace, charcoal grill and views of the Wilder Kaiser and the Hahnenkamm. One of the most harmonious addresses in Kitzbühel for a late afternoon.

A nine-hole par-3 course, laid out exactly where the fastest downhill in the world comes to an end each January. From several holes the view runs straight up the Streif. Short, selective, sporting enough to test handicap players and at the same time the ideal course for beginners, for fine-tuning the wedge game, or for a late-afternoon round when 18 holes are one too many.
Afterwards: the Rasmushof sun terrace above Kitzbühel – Tyrolean cuisine, a serious wine cellar, and the Streif at your back.

Nine minutes by car. That is how close the largest golf facility in the area lies to the Kitzbühel Residences – after the Schwarzsee course, the shortest route to a tee shot anywhere. Waiting there are 27 holes across 90 hectares, arranged as three nine-hole loops – Wilder Kaiser, Ellmau and Tirol – that combine freely.
The result is a full 18 holes of serious golf, a quick loop in the afternoon, or a round that welcomes higher handicaps too. Par 72, 42 bunkers, 800 metres above sea level, opened in 1999.
The setting makes the difference: the rock face of the Wilder Kaiser stands above almost every tee and lends the course a drama none of the Kitzbühel courses offers in quite this form. A spacious driving range, golf school, pro shop and electric carts are part of the package, the season runs from April to October, and the Golf Tirol Card is accepted.
Afterwards: the clubhouse restaurant with à la carte dining and a generous terrace – the view looks straight onto the Kaiser range.

Stay a week and you will not play five courses. Stay a week and you will play eight – without ever driving more than an hour.

The value tip for keen players: the Golf Tirol Card (formerly the Golf Alpin Card) bundles three, four or five 18-hole green fees at a fixed price. It is valid at 17 partner courses across Tyrol, including the Kitzbühel 18-hole courses, carries no surcharge on Sundays and public holidays, can be shared between two players and stays valid across two seasons. It is available from partner properties and participating clubs in the region.
In many golf destinations the day ends in the car park. In Kitzbühel it starts there a second time.
At the course. Every club has a kitchen with a character of its own – from the charcoal grill at Kaps to Weinbar Leopold at Eichenheim, the terrace above the Schwarzsee and the clubhouse beneath the Kaiser wall. The order in which you visit these terraces alone gives a week its dramatic arc.
In town. Kitzbühel holds a density of award-winning restaurants, traditional inns and wine addresses that remains remarkable for a town of its size. The Vorderstadt is within walking distance, the Hahnenkamm cable car likewise.
The Club Restaurant: à la carte, four parlours, a wine list of 120 "Good cooking is the foundation of all happiness" – the credo of our kitchen team under head chef Patrick Gfrerer stands for a cuisine that combines regional delicacies with international influences and relies consistently on produce from the surrounding area. At lunch, as a snack between two rounds, or à la carte in the evening: the menus change with the season.
At the Residence: Pool, Spa and Cigar Lounge. After 18 holes the body keeps working: shoulders, back, hips. The 25-metre natural stone swimming pool, built from serpentinite of the Hohe Tauern, holds a constant 30 degrees and is heated entirely by geothermal energy, open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Alongside it: a Finnish sauna, steam bath, infrared cabin and the Swiss pine relaxation room. The treatment menu runs from classic sports and deep-relaxation massage to hot stone and Lomi Lomi Nui – after a week of golf, hardly a side note.
The evening closes in the cigar lounge directly off the panorama terrace: hand-rolled cigars, a selected range of whiskies, cognacs and rums, leather armchairs, and your own humidor on request.
When it rains. The Indoor Golf Lounge with its simulator keeps the swing moving while the clouds pass over the Kaiser outside. A lost day turns into a training session under controlled conditions.
The golf season in the Kitzbühel Alps runs from mid-April to the end of October, and in good years into early November. Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith plays from 17 April to 1 November in 2026, Kaps opened on 10 April, and Eichenheim and the Rasmushof play through to the end of October.

Planning for 2027: experience shows that the clubs release their season dates only in spring. Recent years give the best orientation: Schwarzsee-Reith opened on 11 April 2025 and played until 31 October, then from 17 April to 1 November 2026, while Kaps started on 10 April 2026. Plan your 2027 golf holiday from mid-April onwards – and for late-season golf through to the end of October. As soon as the dates are confirmed, we reserve your tee times.
A practical note on altitude: the courses in the region lie mostly between around 600 and 800 metres – Westendorf, for instance, at 788 m. The ball carries a little further than at sea level; roughly half a club less is a good rule of thumb with the mid irons.
A golf holiday rarely fails on the golf and often on the logistics. At the Kitzbühel Residences we take care of them:
Die Kitzbühel Residences liegen unmittelbar neben dem Golfplatz Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith. Kurze Wege am Morgen, Pool und Spa am Nachmittag, Zigarrenlounge am Abend – und 54 Löcher in Reichweite.
Why is Kitzbühel considered the golf centre of the Alps? Few places in the Alpine region combine four golf courses and 54 holes in such a small area, with almost 20 further courses within an hour's drive, a season from April to the end of October, and a tour layout that hosted the DP World Tour in 2026.
How many golf courses are there in Kitzbühel? Four courses with 54 holes in total: Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith (18), Eichenheim (18), Kaps (9) and the Rasmushof (9). Nine minutes by car from the Kitzbühel Residences, Golfwelt Wilder Kaiser adds another 27 holes, with almost 20 further courses within an hour.
When does the golf season in Kitzbühel begin and end? From mid-April to the end of October, in places into early November. Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith plays from 17 April to 1 November in 2026.

Which course in Kitzbühel suits beginners? The nine-hole par-3 course at the Rasmushof, in the finish area of the Streif. For a structured start, the Golf Sport Academy is the natural addition, where guests of the Kitzbühel Residences receive a discount.
What does a green fee in Kitzbühel cost? An 18-hole round in Kitzbühel costs around 125 to 135 euros in the 2026 season, with afternoon and sundowner rates considerably lower. The Golf Tirol Card brings the price per round down noticeably. We confirm current rates with your enquiry.
Is there a restaurant at the Kitzbühel Residences? Yes – the Club Restaurant, with à la carte dining in four parlours, its own vinothek of around 120 wines and the 1,000-square-metre 360° panorama terrace. Add to that themed evenings such as the Sunday barbecue, daily tea time, the Asia Sharing Dinner in the Kaisersalon and cooking classes from April to November.
Is autumn golf in Kitzbühel worthwhile? Late September to mid-October offers the most reliable conditions of the entire season: settled weather, quiet courses and the autumn colours of the Kitzbühel Alps.
Do I need a handicap? The 18-hole courses apply the usual handicap limits; at Kaps the limit is 36. The par-3 course at the Rasmushof is open to beginners as well.
